The holidays are here! That can cause a lot of anxiety for some of us. Feelings of being overwhelmed with all the "stuff" we have to do. It's one of the only times we may have off from work or school and we end up running around like crazy people instead of using that time to really honor what the holiday's are. Here are some ways that will help you beat the holiday hustle and bustle.
1. Get back to the TRUE meaning of each holiday. It's not about cooking the perfect pie from scratch or shopping beyond your means or even to get everyone a gift that they don't really need.
Get back to the roots and communicate to your family so that you are all on the same page and maybe you can actually enjoy each other.
2. Boundaries. It's ok to say no. You can't possible please everyone or go to every holiday party. Set some boundaries before it gets crazy and you will be more likely to stick to them. Your health is enough of a reason to say no and have it be validated. If someone is going to be mad at you and not understand then they are not worth the time anyways.
3. Yoga. No better time to try yoga if you haven't already, or to restart your practice. The more you are resistant to this idea, the more likely you really need it.
4. Walk! Walking is a great way to release tension and to help take off some of those extra calories you may be eating. Suggest to your family that you all go for a walk after dinner. I believe that there is no problem that can't be resolved with a good walk.
5. Sex! When you are stressed the last thing on your mind is probably sex, but it may just be what you need. What better time to connect with your partner and show them how much you love them. Orgasms release endorphins that are responsible for making you happy so it's a win win situation.
