Most of us have tried a yoga class by now but have you ever heard of yoga for your face?
There is no doubt about it that everyone wants to look and feel their best in their own skin. A large portion of this comes from proper nutrition and feeding the body what it needs to glow from the inside out.
Furthermore, proper skincare is crucial because our skin is the largest barrier
against infection and we need to keep this barrier strong. Along with nutrition and skincare, experts say Face Yoga can make you look younger and give you that radiant complexion you have always wanted.
Face Yoga, which originated in Japan, is a natural alternative to anti-aging remedies. The concept is to practice a series of facial expressions, which will result in toning, lifting and sculpting the muscles under the facial skin, which will counteract sagging and puffiness and increase the circulation and blood flow. If practiced regularly, this will lead to a more youthful and glowing complexion!
Face Yoga includes two different types of exercises:
Poses that wake up “sleeping muscles” (lower eyelid and cheeks) to lift the face.
Poses that relax overworked muscles (forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the mouth) to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Throughout the day we repeatedly make the same face, which makes the face tense up, and causes wrinkles.
Are your frowning right now?
With Face Yoga, you can learn to become more mindful of the faces you might be making that create wrinkles or help to diminish them.
Some of the classic movements include:
Raising the eyebrows
Puckering the lips
Sticking out the tongue and puffing up the cheeks.
Research has shown that it takes time to see results. It is not a quick fix like Botox. Experts have found that if you do it on a regular basis, you should see results within weeks to months (depending how consistent you are).
A good place to start is: three to five minute sessions multiple times throughout the day. There is no excuse not to try it because you can do it any where and it’s free!
You can do it while you’re cooking dinner, walking your dog, or while you apply your favorite golden secrets oils. It's an easy anti-aging technique to slip into your daily routine.
There are Face Yoga classes offered, which typically involves an instructor demonstrating the movements and the students working the face on their own. There are also limitless YouTube videos of people walking through the steps so you can try it on your own time. Of course, everyone is different, and people want to work on different areas of their face. A one-on-one class is more personalized and may help you results quicker.
