One of the main ingredients in our Youth Beauty Face Oil is Rosehip oil, not to be confused with Rosehip seed oil. Rosehip oil contains the whole fruit, which has 10x more pro-vitamin A than Rosehip seed oil and makes an excellent source of topical trans-retinoic acid in a natural form.
Retinoic acid, found in Tretinoin, also called Retinol (Vitamin A), is synthetic, very strong, and toxic in any dosage. It must be applied under medical supervision and has possible undesirable side effects and health repercussions.
Rosehip oil, however, produces all the same anti-aging benefits of Tretinoin but without the undesirable, toxic side effects since it is in a natural state as part of a complex system of unsaturated fatty acids. Therefore, it's action is controlled and slowly released by nature, as it should be.
Some dermatologists will tell you that you can safely manage retinol and just need to be careful. But I have seen enough studies to believe that it is toxic in any dosage and shouldn’t be used on your skin. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) rates Retinol as a 9 out of 10 for toxicity! It states "Retinol is a potent form of synthetic vitamin A. Data from an FDA study indicate that retinoid ingredients may speed the development of skin tumors and lesions on sun-exposed skin." Concerns being cancer and developmental and reproductive toxicity.
I believe in not sacrificing your skin or your body's long-term health for short-term fixes. This is the main reason why I started TGS. Everything good can be found in nature and nature is more than enough.
